Built as a National School 1858 and known as South Ormsby cum Ketsby Church School in the early 20th century.

The school closed in July 1974 with pupils transferring to Tetford.

Built of greenstone with limestone ashlar dressings, St Leonard's is externally largely 14th and 15th century, though restored by James Fowler in 1871.

The south aisle was rebuilt by James Fowler in 1871 - the flat headed windows are 20th century.

Inside the south chapel are memorials to members of the Massingberd family, of the nearby South Ormsby Hall.

At the west end of the south aisle is this doorway with a reset mid-12th century round arch.

It is said to have been brought from the ruined church at nearby Calceby.

An inscription states that these windows were restored after being taken from St Leonards, Abbey Gate, Leicester.
